Film Therapy following the OKI DOKI BLOCK: Difficult emotions—anger and sadness

Partner: Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej

Sometimes it’s hard to cope with our anger or sadness. These are difficult emotions: sometimes they’re strong enough to incapacitate us. How do other people survive them? Do they have any hints? The stories of movie protagonists will show you the problems they’re facing and the things that help them. The films will serve as a starting point to a discussion with children moderated by therapist Joanna Sowińska. We’re going to talk about emotions and try to discover our own ways of coping with difficult feelings.

Moderator:

Joanna Sowińska—systems therapist with many years of experience working with couples and single patients. Sowińska initiated the Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej initiative in Poznań which educates young psychologists and supports them in improving their practical skills. She is the principal of O!MEGA, a student-oriented primary and high school. Together with Łukasz Raszewski she hosted last year’s Filmoterapia series in Kino Muza, discussing contemporary relationship dynamics with the attendees.

Partner:

Instytut Pomocy Profesjonalnej (Professional Aid Institute) fills the gap between theoretical academic knowledge and expensive, often inaccessible practical workshops for therapists. Located in the Jeżyce neighborhood of Poznań, the team of experienced clinicians shares knowledge with newly minted therapists. The Institute was created to give young professionals an opportunity to learn practical skills, improve their competences, and discuss issues with fellow specialists long before seeing the first clients on their own.
