How much of Alvar? A walk with Jakub Głaz

following the screening of “Aalto”, dir. Virpi Suutari

In Polish

Alvar Aalto is an icon of humanist, harmonious, and context-specific architecture. Do any of the buildings erected in Poznań during the era of postwar modernism exhibit similar qualities? What does the then-modernity look like compared to the works of the Finnish architect? Are any of our buildings at least partly as good as those designed by Aalto? These challenging comparisons will form the basis for our walk titled "How much of Alvar?", starting at 14:00 at Kino Muza after the screening of "Aalto".

Our guide:

Jakub Głaz—architecture critic, opinion writer, spatial activity animator. An architect by trade, he popularizes and critiques architecture in print, radio, and TV. In addition, Głaz is an urban improvement advocate,  lecturer, and moderator of debates on space and architecture, as well as an author and curator of architectural exhibitions. He co-created the Open Centre initiative, the Nowy Plan Festival of Modernist Architecture, and the Domokrążcy cycle taking place alongside it.
