Meet the Censors
A journey into the world of censorship. Does any little boy or girl dream of becoming a censor when he or she grows up? Filmmaker and trained anthropologist Håvard Fossum visits South Sudan, India, China, Iran and the United States to see what kind of people the censors really are. Scholars such as Miklós Haraszti, Richard Burt and Dominic Boyer claim that censorship is misunderstood, and that it might even be seen as an intellectual vocation. This thesis is heavily tested when meeting representatives of the regimes in the most notorious dictatorships, and also corporate and clandestine censors.
