Why doesn’t the body lie? A meeting with a painter, photographer, installation artist and a Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Bogna Burska as well as a dancer, performer and choreographer Anna Steller after the screening of the film BODY OF TRUTH, dir. Evelyn Schels
In Polish
Partner: Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk
Before the protagonists became famous artists, Marina Abramović, Shirin Neshat, Sigalit Landau and Katharina Sieverding had experienced war, violence and oppression. Did these experiences make them treat their bodies as the best media of artistic expression? We will talk to our guests about how artists use their own bodies in art. Is being a performer hard everyday work or just an occasional completion of an artistic vision? How and where would we look for new means of expression which could reflect the complicated character of our times?
