BalkanBeats comes to Millennium Docs // DJ set by Robert Soko
BalkanBeats dance parties are cult favorites of the Berlin club scene. Over almost 30 years they made history in the German capital as unique musical experiences. BalkanBeats is not just a project—it’s a culture war, a struggle for dance spaces as well as for the memory of the roots of Balkan music.
BalkanBeats were founded by Robert Soko, who will join us on September 4 in Kulturalna to play his set.
Soko constantly explores music, alters its image, and brings new sounds into his work, inspired by the migrants coming to Berlin from all over the world.
Robert Soko is also the protagonist of "Here we Move Here we Groove", dir. Sergej Kreso, which you can—and should!—see at this year’s Millennium Docs Against Gravity.

DJ WOJ - ethnofolk DJ, producer, ethnic and folk music promoter, extremely well-versed in the world of Balkan rhythms and lively folk tunes. He appeared with the biggest stars of the ethnofolk scene, and ran Etno After Party events at a number of festivals, including Folkowisko (Gorajec), Fest a Leur (Brittany, France), Вольнае паветра (Belarus), Sputnik (Warsaw), Inny Wymiar (Białystok), Singer Festival (Warsaw), and Siemia Bug Festival.
