TVP Dokument Award

The documentary is a particularly noble genre of filmmaking. It may be the best way to explore other people and the complexity of their lives; to encounter the reality of the bygone ages as well as the times we live in; to discover the things we overlook in our surroundings and those located hundreds of miles away. The diversity of subject matter means
that documentary films are an almost unlimited opportunity to discover the world in all its complexity. Documentaries have long played a significant and prominent role at Telewizja Polska, which is one of the largest and most significant producers and co-producers of this genre in Poland: an important tradition as well as a major commitment. Launched in 2019, the TVP Dokument channel is just one—but very significant—step in the journey of Polish documentary history. This channel aims to show life as it is. Intended for viewers who are open and curious about the world, its ambition is to present the full richness of Polish and foreign documentaries; strongly rooted in modernity, it also preserves the works and heritage of Polish documentary filmmaking. This sensitivity and desire to showcase the richness of “humanity” makes us a natural partner for all cultural initiatives with similar goals. The winning film will receive 5000 PLN.
